May 20, 2025 — SoundMachine has launched a native integration with Apple Music, giving users a direct way to import playlists into the platform without relying on third-party tools like Soundiiz or Tune My Music. Playlists can be imported from the playlist import page, synced, and combined, with full support for viewing and deleting individual songs.
Previously, importing Apple Music content into SoundMachine required leaving the platform to authorize access through a separate service. The native integration removes that step, keeping the entire setup process within SoundMachine.
Why It Matters for Business Music
Apple Music has a large user base, and many business owners and operators already use it personally. When setting up background music for a retail store, restaurant, hotel lobby, or office, it’s useful to be able to start from a playlist you already know rather than building from scratch.
Importing a playlist doesn’t mean the music plays as-is for commercial use. SoundMachine handles the licensing side, ensuring the music programmed through the platform is properly licensed for business environments. The import is a starting point, not a direct broadcast of a personal streaming library. The licensing picture for Apple Music in commercial settings has shifted over the years, which is worth understanding if you’re coming from a personal subscription.
How to Use the Apple Music Import
Before importing, a few requirements apply:
- Account must be on a Business Premium plan
- The playlist must contain at least 100 unique songs after import. A target of 200 is recommended for a comfortable buffer, as some tracks may not transfer
- Explicit songs are filtered out automatically. Songs marked clean that match an explicit version may also be removed
- The playlist must include at least 20 different artists
To import playlists from Apple Music:
- Click the “Import Station” button in the Stations tab
- Click the Apple Music tab. If your account isn’t connected yet, you’ll be prompted to enter your credentials
- Select the playlists you want to import using the checkboxes, then click Import Playlist
- A summary will confirm which playlists imported successfully, or explain why any failed
Once imported, two additional options are available alongside each playlist:
Resync — updates the SoundMachine station to reflect any changes made to the original Apple Music playlist, such as added or removed songs.
Copy Songs to Station — adds the songs from a selected Apple Music playlist into another imported station, including stations imported from other services. It can also be used to fully replace the songs in an existing station.
Availability
Native Apple Music import is available now for all SoundMachine Business Premium and Business Premium HD accounts. Users on any of these existing plans do not need to upgrade to access it.
Businesses that haven’t tried SoundMachine can get started with a free trial.
